Founders Forum

Over the course of just two days, Shout! filmed the highlights of Founders Forum’s flagship London event. With 12 hours of footage filmed in several locations across the capital, the job was an exciting challenge!

The Project

Founders Forum, a private network of the world’s leading digital and technology entrepreneurs, hosted their flagship networking event for business angels and CEOs to meet the companies they might invest in. In addition to famous names from Google, Twitter and Facebook, HRH The Duke of Cambridge attended the key note conference asking tech leaders for their commitment to tackle cyber-bullying. Shout! was commissioned to film a promotional video which captured the essence of the event, by filming specific interviews, events and key note speeches in multiple locations across the capital. We then edited the 12 hours of footage down into a three minute promotional video ready to be used as collateral for future events. With just on filming team we had to race around London and adapt to each filming environment at lightning speed.

What We Did
  • Constructed a detailed filming plan to cover all events.
  • Filmed specific interviews, events and key note speeches in multiple locations across the capital.
  • Edited 12 hours of footage into a 3 minute package in just 48 hours
Challenges

The dome we filmed in looked amazing, but the acoustics made it virtually impossible to record interviews there.

The headline news of having a royal guest meant that a media scrum was inevitable.

We had to adjust to logistical and technical uncertainties, as with live events there are no re-takes!

The turnaround was tight for a lot of footage – just a couple of days.

Our video team had a filming plan, but also needed to adapt to last minute changes and to seize opportunities as they presented themselves.

The turnaround was tight for a lot of footage – just a couple of days. We had to race across London, filming at 10 Downing Street, Skyloft, Kensington Gardens and The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire, and interviewing 60 people.

Outcome

The finished video was used for 2 purposes: a wrap-up video to be shared with guests and as collateral for future Founders Forum marketing events.

The client was delighted with the result, and the video was used extensively in their publicity.

With hybrid working having become the “new norm”, some of us have skewed the boundaries between home and professional life. Mailbird’s campaign reminding workers about email etiquette therefore was timely.
